I lost my Dad to Kidney cancer in 1995 and my Mom to Pancreatic cancer in 2005.  Both types of cancer were fairley rare at the times of diagnosis and unfortunately treatments were limited.

I watched both parents fight their cancers, both fought very differently.

My Dad sought out as many treatments as possible and his dying words were "keep fighting".

My Mom, she understood her cancer was very aggressive and choose to use her remaining energy elsewhere.

In the end, both fought the fight with grace and dignity and both left legacies beyond what words can describe.

We are all touched by cancer, we all need support -

Thank you Livestrong for being the one solid support in a time unbelievable uncertainty.

I am running the Chicago Marathon Oct 12 in memory of my parents, Gerry and Barbara Shaw and in honor of Michelle Auld who continues to amaze all who know her as she fights the fight.

As part of Team LIVESTRONG, I'm making a difference in the fight against cancer.

The Foundation serves people affected by cancer and empowers them to take action against this disease that is now the world's leading cause of death.
The money I raise will support programs and services for cancer survivors. These resources help people diagnosed with cancer face the challenges of the disease head on and live life on their own terms.

Please support me as I make a difference in the cancer fight through my participation in Team LIVESTRONG.
Thank you!
