On July 18, 2013, my mom lost her best friend, her husband, my step-dad, Steve Jones, to lung cancer.  It wasn't until Steve was diagnosed with cancer and went through chemo, radiation and surgeries did I truly see what cancer does...not just to the loved one diagnosed, but also to the ones who struggle to offer care, compassion and comfort...where sometimes it's just not enough.  I understand now what my step-mom has gone through time and time again as she has cared, lovingly and selflessly, for her family members diagnosed with cancer.  I want to do more.

On the other side of the coin, I have friends and family members who have faced this indiscriminate and nasty disease head-on and have prevailed.  I love and admire them! They are my heroes!

With this run, I'll do what I can to make a difference...one inch, one foot, one mile (or 13.1) at a time.  Will you please help me make the difference?

As part of Team LIVESTRONG, I'm making a difference in the fight against cancer. I've joined with other people around the globe and across different events to raise money for the LIVESTRONG Foundation. The Foundation serves people affected by cancer and empowers them to take action against this disease that is now the world's leading cause of death. LIVESTRONG has become a symbol of hope and inspiration to people affected by cancer around the world. The money I raise will support programs and services for cancer survivors. These resources help people diagnosed with cancer face the challenges of the disease head on and live life on their own terms. Livestrong.org/WeCanHelp

Please support me as I make a difference in the cancer fight through my participation in Team LIVESTRONG. Thank you!
